Psalms 47

In order to truly understand Psalms 47, you must preface this chapter with Psalms 46. Chapters 46, 47, and 48 is written about the Kingdom of God, the Millennial Kingdom, which will last 1000 years. Jesus Christ will reign on earth during this time, which is what Psalms 47 records. Psalm 46 is about the last of the seven years of tribulation, after the tribulation, and right before the establishment of the Millennial Kingdom. Psalm 48 writes about the end of the 1000 years.

Psalm 47 is a reality that will happen, and those who are truly blessed by the Lord, by grace will be able to enter into the Kingdom of God will rejoice and clap their hands. 47:1; “Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.” This means that there will be no more pain and suffering all across the world. Not only the nation of Israel, but all nations will have the blessing to enjoy a thousand years of reign by Jesus, and we will clap and shout to the almighty God. Romans 9:5; “Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them (The Jewish people)is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.” The Nations in Psalm 47 are composed of two groups of people, the Jews (Israelites) and the Gentiles. According to Revelations, half of the Gentiles have the blessing and opportunity to enter into the Kingdom of God. As for the Jewish people, it is written in Zechariah 13, only one-third will remain with the blessing of God. The criteria for these people are that they must be free of the mark of the beast, on their right hands or their foreheads. In Revelations 13 it is written that those without the mark will be unable to purchase anything, and the mark will replace cash or credit cards. The antichrist and the false prophet will force people to have the mark in order to make purchases at any store. Those who are ignorant of the scripture will be willing to receive the mark to save themselves, and Matthew 16:24-25 will be fulfilled; “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” Around half of the population will not worship the beast, idols, and will be willing to lose their lives for Jesus. These are the Gentiles without the mark who will receive the blessing, by grace, to enter into the Kingdom of God. The one third of Jewish people will be cast into the seven years of tribulation to be tested until the Lord takes away their suffering. When that happens, there will be clapping of hands and cries of joy.

There are two kinds of people, according to Matthew chapter 25; the wise virgin who has oil in their lamp, who has also prepared oil in a jar so that they have enough for Jesus. The other is the foolish virgin who does not have oil and who will not have the blessings to enter into the wedding banquet of the lamb. The foolish virgins will go through the seven years of tribulation, and during the years of suffering, they will understand Psalm 46 and turn to rely upon Jesus. Even the foolish virgins can enter into the kingdom of God, as long as they repent. The wise virgins will not have to go through the seven years, and will be taken up to heaven to attend the Wedding supper of the Lamb, as explained in Matthew 25. Jesus Christ spared them from the tribulation, and after the supper of the lamb, they will come down to enter into the millennial kingdom. They will also clap their hands and rejoice.

Psalm 47:2; “‘For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.” The reason why he is called Most High is written in Ephesians 4:7-9; “But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.” 9 (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)” The Lord ascended on High, and also descended to the lower, earthly regions as written in 1 Peter 3:19-20; “After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water” The Lord himself went to the imprisoned spirits from the days of Noah who disobeyed God long ago. Jesus Christ went down to rebuke them in the lower regions and He is also able to go to the most high. During the Millennial Kingdom, Jesus Christ will be the one great king over all the earth, it is also written in Zechariah 14:9; “ The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.” In the New Testament, it says so in Revelations 17:14; “They will wage war against the Lamb (Jesus), but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.” and in Revelations 19:16 it says; “On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.” Everyone will know who their king is, the awesome Lord Most High.

It is written in Psalms 47:47:3; “He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.” He did this in Psalms 46, when he ended all wars in the final battle, which is also written in Revelations 19:11-21. According to Zechariah 14, many nations will surround the Holy city, Jerusalem, and all who attack the Jewish people will be destroyed. In Psalms 47:4 it says; “He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.” Jesus Christ chose our inheritance for us, He did so in Psalms 16:5-6; “Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” The size of your inheritance depends on your actions right now. Ephesians 1:13-14; “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” Those who hear the gospel will receive the Holy Spirit, which guarantees your inheritance, and how much inheritance you receive depends on how much you are moved by the Holy Spirit to do God’s work. “He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.” Jacob was God’s servant, the youngest son of Isaac. He was not happy about his position as second son, and grasped the heel of his twin brother even coming out of the womb. He tricked his father into giving him the double portion of blessings that belonged to his firstborn brother. But he learned later on to hold onto Jesus Christ and ask for His blessings. We must seek the Holy Spirit and its blessings as Jacob did, and that is how we will receive our inheritance. If you have the Holy Spirit within your heart, you will understand and persevere to do God’s work through faith. If you do not feel that you have the Holy Spirit, pray to God and ask Him for it, ask your pastor to lay hands on you and pray. In Acts 8 the people of Samaria lacked the Holy Spirit even after being baptized by Philip, and in the church of Ephesus, Apollos baptized them in the name of John the Baptist, and not Jesus Christ. These are disciples of Jesus, and yet even they do not have the Holy Spirit. They are weak Christians who do not serve the Lord according to His will, and without the Holy Spirit, do not have the deposit guaranteeing their inheritance. You cannot receive inheritance without belonging to Christ. Romans 8:9; “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.” Like a shepherd herding lamb, we are branded in Jesus Christ with a seal so that He knows that we belong to Him. Either you take the mark of Satan as written in Revelations 13 and go to hell, or you receive the mark of the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 1:13-14 and enter into the kingdom of God.

Psalms 47:5; “God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.” Luke 24:48-52; “You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. 50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.”Jesus Christ ascended amidst shouts of joy, returning to Most High. Acts 1:9-11; “ After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. 10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” Psalms 47:6; “Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.” He is King of all kings and Lord of all Lords, worthy of worship. 47:7; “7 For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.” When we see Jesus in the millennial kingdom, sing Psalms 47 to Him, for it testifies who our Lord Jesus Christ is. He is the King, the God, the almighty God, the Lord most high.

47:8; “God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.” He will reign and reign for 1000 years on His holy throne, and we will be His people. 47:9; “The nobles of the nations assemble  as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.” The kings of the earth will have the Holy spirit to belong to God. Anyone who has the Holy Spirit has the inheritance, and in turn, also has kingship. In other words, not only Jesus Christ will reign on earth over the nations for a millenia, all the people who are faithful in serving Him will reign alongside Him for those 1000 years. Revelations 5:9-10; “And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” If you are faithful in serving God as a priest, He will purchase you from every tribe, language, people, and nation. He purchased you with the blood of Christ, and will want you to understand God’s words and teach others. If you are willing to do that for Him, you will reign on worth for 1000 years with Jesus. The others who will enter into the Kingdom of God are the wise virgins from Matthew 25 who have the oil in the lamp and extra oil in the jar. They were spared from going through the seven years of tribulation and attended the Wedding supper of the lamb. Who else can enter into the Kingdom of God? All those who were left behind during the seven years and were willing to die for Jesus and did not receive the mark of the antichrist, and suffered for Jesus, these people can also enter into the Kingdom of God. This is written in Revelations 20:4-6; “ I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God.They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.” Whether you have the blessing to be spared of the seven years of tribulation or not, in order to reign as a king with Jesus, you must serve God as priests. Serve the Lord now, so that you can be priests and tell other people the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I urge my brothers and sisters to read Psalms every day, at least five chapters. In one month you will have read the entire book of Psalms. Many mysteries and wisdoms are made known and it is imperative that we study and memorize it. Psalms was written by King David, who fervently pursued God’s heart. For your daily devotion to get closer to God everyday, I highly recommend reading five chapters of psalms a day and one chapter of Proverbs.
